This Privacy Policy explains how VitaLens ("we", "us", or "our")
collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the VitaLens mobile
application (the "App"). VitaLens lets you upload medical reports and lab results
and uses artificial intelligence to help you understand them in plain language.
Health information notice. VitaLens processes sensitive health
information that you choose to provide. We treat this data with care and only use
it to deliver the features you request. We do not sell your health data.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide
Account information — your email address and, optionally, your name, used to create and secure your account.
Health & medical content — the report text, lab values, images, or PDF documents you upload for analysis, and the analyses, summaries, insights, and chat messages generated from them.
Profile preferences — settings such as your preferred language and appearance.
Camera & photo library content — photos or files you select or capture in order to upload a medical report. We access your camera and photo library only when you actively choose to add a report.
Information collected automatically
Usage and device data — basic technical information such as device type, operating system version, app version, and limited diagnostic or crash data used to keep the App working reliably.
Subscription data — if you purchase a subscription, our payments provider processes the transaction and shares purchase status with us. We do not receive or store your full payment card details.
2. How We Use Your Information
To analyze the medical reports you upload and generate summaries, key findings, recommendations, trends, and chat responses.
To create, authenticate, and secure your account.
To store your reports and history so you can access them across sessions.
To operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the App.
To process subscriptions and prevent fraud or abuse.
To comply with legal obligations.
3. AI Processing & Third-Party AI Provider
To produce analyses, summaries, trends, and chat responses, VitaLens sends the
relevant information to a third-party AI provider that processes it on our behalf:
AI provider:Google LLC, via the
Google Gemini API. See Google's privacy practices at
policies.google.com/privacy.
Data sent to the AI provider: the report text, lab values, and
images or PDF documents you upload; your profile details used to personalize
results (such as age, gender, and blood type); your recent report summaries; and
the questions and messages you send in chat.
Purpose & limits: Google processes this data solely to
generate a result that is returned to you. Per the Google API terms applicable to
this service, your content is not used to train Google's models. The provider is
bound by confidentiality and data-protection obligations equivalent to those
described in this Policy.
We ask for your in-app consent before sending your data to the AI provider for the
first time. AI-generated output may be incomplete or inaccurate and is provided for
informational purposes only.
Not medical advice. VitaLens is an informational tool and is not a
substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult
a qualified healthcare provider regarding any medical condition or before making
health decisions.
4. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal or health information. We share information only as needed to operate the App:
Service providers — cloud hosting, storage, AI processing (Google LLC, via the Google Gemini API — see Section 3), analytics/crash reporting, and payment processing partners who process data on our behalf under appropriate confidentiality obligations.
Legal & safety — when required by law, regulation, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users or the public.
Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this Policy.
5. Data Retention
We retain your account information and uploaded reports for as long as your account
is active or as needed to provide the App. You can delete individual reports within
the App. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your associated
personal and health data, except where we must retain it to meet legal, security, or
accounting requirements.
6. Security
We use technical and organizational measures—such as encryption in transit and
access controls—to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is
completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Your Rights & Choices
Access, update, or correct your profile information in the App.
Delete individual reports, or delete your entire account.
Revoke camera or photo library permissions at any time in your device settings.
Request a copy or deletion of your personal data by contacting us (see below). Depending on your location, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA, including the right to object to or restrict certain processing.
8. Children's Privacy
VitaLens is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your
jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you
believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we
can remove it.
9. International Data Transfers
Your information may be processed and stored in countries other than your own. Where
required, we take steps to ensure your data receives an adequate level of protection
in accordance with applicable law.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the
"Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice within
the App.
